Finally They Arrived

Finally they arrived! Just upgraded from my WESC headphones which broke on me 2 weeks ago. I’m suprised they even lasted as long as they did. I bought these same headphones on eBay and the seller never sent them nor did they respond to my messages. After a week eBay allowed me to put in a claim, then they refunded my money. Then I tried again and bought the Pioneer HDJ-2000 headphones and they just arrived. So pumped!

DJ AM Memorial Film

I’ve heard about several DJ AM tributes and memorial videos made, but they weren’t authentic. They were mostly made from people playing off AM’s name after his passing for recognition, so they used photos stolen from his social media profiles to make their video. His Facebook page is the worst right now with people dropping ad links on it. The page is getting lots of visitors with no one there to administer the spam comments, so it’s kind of looking like a MySpace dumping zone of spam. Lame. I came across this video which is said to have been played at his memorial service at The Hollywood Palladium. It feels authentic, so I wanted to share it.

CLVR TV x BLANC THE SALON

There aren’t too many days a week that you will not find me around Denver without my cohort, Ty, who owns Blanc The Salon. Recently Blanc and CLVR.tv did it big again with episode 2 of season 1. It’s no fluke Ty and Blanc The Salon are littered with “Best of” awards from various press sources spanning over this last decade. Blanc The Salon is filled with very talented stylists. Shout out to Tiffany, who rocked out my sister’s hair while she was in town. She loves it! Do yourself a favor and don’t settle for any gauche stylist or louche salon. Go get Blanc’d!

Now Go Get Blanc’d

Denver’s premier hair salon, Blanc, has steadily became the main and most talked about component to CLVR.tv’s new series of Colorado rising stars including Never Summer Snowboards and MMA Fighter, Cameron Dollar. Blanc’s clientele list includes some of Denver’s big business owners such as Beatport. On any given Tuesday through Saturday the salon is poppin’ off like the 4th of July with plenty of eye candy….which I enjoy.

Field tested, DJ approved

Beats by Dr Dre

As I promised, Beats by Dr Dre have been tested. Compared to the price of other high-end headphones, the MSRP of $350 is worth it, although I have seen these new for as low as $250. Beats sit light on your head with a very comfortable ear piece which cancels outside noise. Their great balance of sound kept the highs, mids and lows from becoming painful to the ear at full volume. They will work for DJ except in the position of them resting around your neck and turning one of the ear cups up for monitoring. The headphones work the best, for a DJ, while they sit on your head with one side on your ear and the other side off for monitoring. Get your custom colored Beats by Dr Dre from the guys at ColorWare. I’m ready to get these headphones into the club and also rock the earbuds on my iPhone.

Create. Inspire. Evolve. Move Forward.

DVLP Clothing

Big thanks to Noah, Rustin, Mike and Steven at Develop Clothing for the super fresh gear. The new 2009 line they created is off the charts! My favorite piece is the “6 Day Denim,” although the hoodies, t’s and hats are all very noteworthy. Shop DVLP Clothing online and let your style evolve.

WESC (Weak Electronics Serious Cash)

We Are The Superlative Conspiracy WESC Bag Pipe
Last year was a big one for WESC with their Stretch Armstrong and Steve Aoki/Dim Mak pro model Bag Pipe headphones. Over the years I have always used Sony MDR V700DJ, which are some of the best for sound and comfort. I recently broke bread on these WESC (WeAretheSuperlativeConspiracy) headphones. They are not available to demo in the Denver market, so I dropped $200 and ordered the 2009 Bag Pipe Mauritius Blue model. The sound they produce is similar to not letting your ears pop while driving in the mountains listening to music. Not good. Also the way the ear cup rotates with the headphone band/strap, it pinches the shit out of your neck. So marinating in your subconscious while spinning is the fact you are getting ready to pinch your neck with the ear cup when you bring your headphones back up to your ear. This is sister to knowing you are getting ready to be shocked when you grab the door knob after walking on carpet in your socks….it sucks.

Anyway, I haven’t seen Beats (Dr Dre x Monster collaboration) used in a DJ environment but the reviews are great for sound quality. I’m going to get a pair of these $300 headphones and try them out. I’ll keep you posted.
